FESTIVAL

School festivals are held twice a year, a fall festival in October and a spring festival in May. The purpose of these festivals is two-fold: fundraising and community building. The Fall Festival is an entire parish celebration and the Spring Fling is a celebration limited to the school community. Our PTG is always looking for volunteers for serving, managing booths, etc. It is great fun to be involved with these activities.

CAMP

Each November the 6th grade class and their teacher travel just outside of Julian to spend one week in the beautiful wilderness.  Their destination...Camp Stevens!  This 6th grade camp experience encourages the students to work together and to make new friendships as well as fostering the old ones.  So many memories are made during this short period of time.  The counselors, from all over the world, provide a comfortable, enjoyable, non-threatening, educational environment in which the children thrive. Every child benefits from this incredible experience.  It is a definite high point of the 6th grade school year.

TALENT SHOW

St. Michael's Talent Show began a quarter of a century ago, as an informal noontime show on the steps in front of the 8th grade classroom.  It soon grew into a formal talent contest held in the hall with 20 acts, guest judges and trophies.  It became obvious that many of St. Michael's students had talent to share.  Limiting the show to 20 acts left many children saddened because they could not be in the show.  St. Michael's staff members came up with a solution and today, St. Michael's Talent Show is 2 afternoons long and any child wanting to perform can do so.  Every year for the past 15 years, between 150 to 200 children have performed on stage.

SCRIPS

Saint Michael Academy has been involved in the selling of Scrip for a number of years. In this program vendors make gift certificates available for purchase and discount the price to us. Patrons purchase the scrip at face value and we keep the difference for programs. At this time the school will continue this program and we will be asking the entire parish to participate in the support of religious education at St. Michael Parish, both the Academy and CCD. It is hoped that a concerted effort on the part of parishioners may result in a reduction of costs for parents in religious education at St. Michael Parish. We look forward to the entire parish joining in this important effort. Scrip may be ordered at the school office each day.
